Worked just like they stated it would if I did my part.

I applied for this secured card in March 2018 and now just hit my 8th billing cycle. I received an email from Discover today that stated they were sending my $200 deposit back and increased my (now unsecured) credit line up to $2000. I used the card every month and always paid the card down to less than 10% of the available credit. I have heard in some cases that having a small balance of less than 10% can sometimes be better for your credit score than paying it off in full. My priority right now is raising my score so I'll pay the pennies of interest due for leaving this small balance from month to month. I highly recommend this card for building your credit. The approval was fast and it also came without an annual fee and earns a little bit of cash back on purchases.

The site and (Android) app are very easy to use and I like that customer support is based in the USA. Plus there are features like no annual fee and cash back, what's not to love?! Will always recommend to friends if they're looking to build their credit and/or are inexperienced with credit cards.

I applied for this card in January this year, I received it with a $200 limit as that was my deposit. Once I got the card I increased my credit limit an additional $300 and then a month later an additional $500 for a total of $1000 credit limit. I had just gotten out of debt, my FICO score was only 544 when I applied for this card and got approved. As of this month they graduated me to a regular credit card and increased my credit limit to $1750 and I got my check in the mail enclosed in the same letter that read "Good news! Because you've shown responsible account management, you're getting your security deposit back. Please continue to pay on time and make at least the minium monthly payment."It said more but you get the point. So for me it was at the 9th month that I got my deposit back which means they did indeed evaluate my account at the 8th month mark as they stated. I did use my card substantially in talking $600-$800 a month but airways paid nearly in full before my due date. My rent, phone bills, media bills all were paid using this card for cash back. Yes it's not much being only 1% cash back for most things but so far I've racked up $64 and they will match that in Feb 2019. So I'll keep getting cash back hoping to reach hundred and that will be another $200 check sent to me just for using the card. My FICO is currently at 637 with me having the Discover card, a BofA card that graduated from secured cards two months ago, a Capital One non secured that I just got a $200 CL increase on for five phone on time monthly payments. I have a $500 Citi secured card and a secured installment loan with self lender. I get my money back from self lender in Feb and my money from Citi on May. I'm hoping by next year I can have a good FICO that's 685-700. Two years from now when I have my associates degree I plan to buy my van. I recommend this card because it's the only one that allows you to call in and add to your security deposit to increase your credit limit. They"

I applied for this card because discover is a great name and I thought they would transfer me to an unsecured card after my history with them. They state that after 8 billing cycles they will evaluate your account and with responsible credit use they transition your account to an unsecured card and raise your credit limit. I have now had this card for a year, always made my payments or paid the entire balance off every month on time and they have never evaluated my account, raised my limit or done anything promised. I wrote to them twice only to receive a formal blow off email statin that my account will be evaluated after 8 billing cycles, etc. which I found ironic to say the least. In the last year I have raised my credit score near 75 points but mainly by using the credit one bank card and a capital one visa which have been very good to me. Credit one offers a starter card which began at 300 dollars. After 2 months they raised my limit to 450 and now after a year they gave me a brand new platinum account with a thousand dollar limit and rewards. Capital one has raised my limit 3 times over the last year showing growth yet discover has done nothing for me. Im about to cancel the discover account after working with other cards that have really supported my credit growth over the last year. I would highly recommend the credit one card and store specific cards which have really helped my credit score and stay away from this discover secured card. If you are absolutely without any other options then maybe it will help you but it hasn't done anything for me.
